Angelika Platen's portraits of artists vividly recall a period of dramatic and momentous change in both art and society.Taken in the late Sixties and early Seventies, her photographs depict more than 100 artists who were practically unknown at the time, but have become famous since.
<p>Angelika Platen drew her inspiration from the unique individuality of the artists and their works; her aesthetic goal was to portray the artists in their own context, creating a visual LINK between artist and work, and work and artist.</p>
<p>Thus, she presents us with a very personal and aesthetically convincing interpretation of the art scene of the time, to which she ties up as well for the contemporary scene since 1997.</p>
